Social Networking & Microblogging Sites

Although many of these sites are blocked by school filtering software, the influences of social networking and microblogging sites such as Plurk and Twitter have grown to over 6 million users.  These sites allow the user to post comments (known as twitters or plurks) up to 140 text characters in length.  Responders can then post a comment in reply.

The use of these sites has grown, and is especially helpful for professional as well as personal networking.
